How often should a gas boiler be serviced?+

My boiler is old. Should I service it or replace it?+
A fair question, and the answer depends on age, condition and repair history. If a boiler is past its economic life we will say so, and you have two routes: a new boiler quoted online in about 90 seconds, or, since the £7,500 grant now brings a heat pump to around the same price as a boiler, a free heat loss survey to compare both properly before you decide.
